NINTH DISTRICT PROGRESS MEETING

THE BROTHERS and SISTERS
OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
ARE PROUD TO WELCOME YOU TO THE . . .

PROGRESS MEETING
in San Francisco, California

JUNE 14 - 17, 2005

We realize that the Delegates attending the Progress Meeting are there, first and foremost, to carry out the important business of our Brotherhood. Their responsibilities to  the Local's that they represent are paramount.

However, many Delegates, as well as those who will be accompaning them, will have some free time while in the Bay Area. Others will plan their vacations to coincide with their official  business. These pages are offered as an aide to maximize their time while in Northern California.

San Francisco is just one of our District's jewels and we truly hope that your visit will be a memorable one.

To assist you in planning your visit, we will point out some of the highlights of the City, as well as the surrounding areas that can be seen while based in San Francisco.

We caution you that Northern California is a tourist favorite and you should plan your visit accordingly. Try to make reservations well ahead of time for attractions such as a visit to Alcatraz, a day trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, an overnight to Lake Tahoe or to Yosemite National Park.

With a little preplanning, you're guaranteed to have the time of your life!

Car Rentals

Do you want some advice about renting a car?

Don't do it!

San  Francisco is a small city (49 square miles) and most of the tourist spots are located in a small section  of it.

Remember that parking is difficult, if not impossible to find. Convention hotels will charge you extra for parking in their garages.

The easiest way around town is to use the various forms of public transportation (BART, Cable Car's MUNI); walk; or take taxi's.

If you plan to go out of the city on a day trip, rent a car for that trip at one of the car rental agencies located around the city.

You'll be glad you did!
