A sizable segment of I.B.E.W. members work for the United States and Canadian governments. Hardly an agency of these governments
does not need trained I.B.E.W. electrical workers to carry out its purposes adequately in shipyards, naval ordnance facilities, as well as the numerous defense facilities.Electricians, lineman, gyro and
radio technicians, electric crane repairmen and others are essential to the defense of our nations and the safety of their citizens. I.B.E.W. members work aboard ships, on transmission lines; in our
National Parks; in all kinds of shops providing maintenance to Federal buildings and equipment; on communications work of all types; and on various jobs in every branch of the service. I.B.E.W. members also
perform work for many cities and Public Utilities - from clerical to electrical, and everything in between. |
